Skellefteå is in the midst of one of the most dynamic and inspiring transformations in the world. The city is growing rapidly and evolving into a green and innovative role model for future sustainable communities. With major investments in renewable energy, climate-smart buildings, and new technology, Skellefteå has become a magnet for businesses and people who want to be part of this transformation.

In Skellefteå, we are not just building new homes, but also a new kind of society where sustainability is a core principle. From Europe's largest battery factory to sustainable urban development projects, this is a place where innovation meets action, and where the future of living is already taking shape.

Purpose of the Workshop

The best housing is sustainable. It has no climate impact during construction or operation, promotes social well-being, and offers living costs that are affordable for everyone. With this vision as our guiding star, we will join forces to see how far we can go with today’s knowledge and technology.

What to Expect

During the workshop, we will work in three phases:

  • Idea Generation: We will explore and generate new ideas on social sustainability, energy solutions, architecture, and the economy for sustainable housing.

  • Concept Development: We will refine the most promising ideas and turn them into concrete and feasible concepts.

  • Action Planning: We will create actionable plans with clear responsibilities to ensure the concepts are implemented.

Areas of Discussion

  • Social Sustainability: How do we integrate social sustainability into both architecture and housing models in a way that truly makes a difference?

  • Energy: How can we develop innovative energy solutions that meet the future challenges of supply and cost?

  • Architecture and Construction: How can we challenge traditional building methods with new materials and techniques without compromising quality?

  • Economic Sustainability: How do we reverse the trend of rising housing costs? Can we find smarter ways to live, discover new economic models, and create a sustainable economy for both the construction and management of housing?

Why Participate?

  • Contribute to Sustainable Solutions: Be part of shaping the future of housing that is sustainable both for the environment and for the people who will live there.
